Little People Dundee

Children's Safety

Children’s safety is our number one priority here at Little People nursery. Our main door access to the nursery is a secure door which is fitted with a magnet and operated by a push button. We have pin code access locks on the main entrances to our 2-3 room and 3-5 room and door handles are positioned out of children’s reach.

We operate a strict collection procedure – in our registration pack there is a collection permission form to be completed by Parents/Carers, and a password section – persons only listed on the collection form will be given handover. If the staff are unfamiliar with someone who comes to collect your child/children we will contact you immediately.

Risk assessments are completed before the opening of the nursery in the morning, upon closing of the nursery and throughout the day to ensure all areas of the setting are safe and risk free which will allow the children to maximise their learning opportunities.

Before leaving for an outing into the community staff will undertake a risk assessment and take appropriate measures to ensure children’s safety whilst out of setting. A nursery phone will be taken on outings to allow Practitioners to contact the nursery/parents if required. All children will be encouraged to wear a high visibility vest – which the nursery will provide to ensure children are safe and always seen. Wrist straps are provided for extra precautions for children walking and prams are provided to allow our younger children to have access to the community.

All of our Management team and staff working within the rooms are Qualified in ‘Emergency Pediatric First Aid’, this includes Epi-Pen and Defibrillator training. This course is taken every Three years to ensure all staff are up to date with relevant training/procedures. **Please find Certificates under ‘Certificates’ tab.**

Ratios within the room are strictly adhered to – please see individual rooms tabs for more information regarding ratios.
